Feast of the Black Nazarene

Happy Fiesta! Today is the Feast Day of the Black Nazarene in Quiapo, Manila. It is celebrated annually every January 9. A lot of devotees joined the procession from Quirino Grandstand to Quiapo Church.

Sadly, a lot of people were injured during the event. It always happen every feast day because a lot of devotees wish to get their hands on the rope pulling the carriage, wipe the statue or even kiss it. The worst scenario is that there are also reports of people's death.

On my side:
I just don't get it why people have to go insane though the statue of the Black Nazarene is always in the church everytime. I know that a feast day is special but, can't they do it peacefully? I mean, without people getting injured or even dying. It's just a rope. It's just a statue. For me, what's important is the faith that keeps us hanging and believing.

But no matter what, people have their own reasons and decisions for their actions so I'm not against any of it.

I understand some people's reasons for going there. But I personally don't think I am brave enough. I will observe the feast day in my own little way.

:) hehe..

@Mama Mia - Well that's tradition. We can't do anything about it but remind them to be careful. :)
