No More Azkals In The Round 3

This is certainly bad news for football fans like me because of the recent lost of the Azkals against the Al-Azraqs earlier this evening. The 2nd leg for the Round 2 of the FIFA World Cup Qualifier was held at Rizal Memorial Stadium which was aired live via Studio 23. The Azkals scored the 1st goal at the half time of the game. Although the rainy weather condition made it hard for the Al-Azraqs unlike the Azkals, they came back to score 2 points which led them to victory. The game ended with a 2-1 score in favor of the Al-Azraqs. The aggregate score for the Round 2 of Kuwait vs. Philippines is 1-5 which means that the Al-Azraqs will move on to the next round of the qualifiers and the elimination of the Philippines.

However, the Azkals coach said that they've learned a lot from these experiences and will be working harder for the future. It is reported that they are getting themselves ready to compete for the Asian Cup. 

No matter what, let us keep on supporting our national teams because losing is always part of the game. Hence, we must stand up and fight even harder to achieve our goals.

Azkals' Lost At 1st Leg Of Round 2

The 1st leg of the Round 2 for the FIFA World Cup Qualifier was aired live in the Philippines via ABS-CBN and Studio 23. I was wide awake but unfortunately I haven’t got the chance to watch it from the start. Yet I’m pretty sure it was around 1 o’clock in the morning today.

It was a struggle for the Azkals as they try to achieve even just 1 goal. Although they showed a tough defense, Kuwait’s Al-Azraq team conquered the game with a 3-0 victory.

The 2nd leg will be held here in the Philippines at the Rizal Memorial Stadium on Thursday, July 28. This will be a critical game for the Azkals because of the 3-point lead of the Al-Azraqs wherein they need to score 3 goals in their upcoming home game in order to tie it, or better yet, score 4 goals to be able to win it and proceed to Round 3. However, this task is hard to obtain given that the Al-Azraq team’s offense is pretty tight.

Hence, I want to give credits for the great defense shown by Neil Etheridge, Azkals’ goal keeper, who blocked a lot of potential goals from the Al-Azraqs. Kudos! I just hope that the Azkals would have enough strength and luck to win the upcoming 2nd leg game.
