Suspensions Lately

Due to a lot of storm that entered the Philippines last month, a lot of classes were suspended in all levels for some few days. But until this month, the storms keep on coming. The classes were suspended again today but the good thing about it was that our school suspended our classes early in the morning so I had no trouble going to school and back home. Another good thing is that my classes were in the afternoon. hihi... However, these suspensions are making me miss my friends and our class discussions are also getting delayed specially our midterm examinations. I'm getting a bit worried that we will cram with the new school schedules because we have our proposal defense and midterm in line. But I know we, college students, are not the only ones affected by these storms. I just hope that all of the students will have enough strength and wisdom to comply with make-up classes and delayed discussions.

Sacrifices

Everybody's got priorities. And thus, we have to make sacrifices. We have to weigh certain situations and commitments so we can give way to more important activities.

This week will be very busy for me. The only good thing about today is that my duty was cancelled because something went wrong. I was one of the editors for our IT group ID project, alongside Deej who is also good with Photoshop. We want to share our skills and help our friend who was solely put in-charge of this ID project. We were supposed to make some IDs for the other members but unfortunately, the print quality of the sample ID didn't meet the expectations our group advisers. The colors were different from the design layout as seen in the computer. Therefore, we will continue the process until the new layout is refurbished.

Meanwhile, tomorrow will be the start of our midterm examinations, since I'm studying in a trimester school. It will be from July 26-28. Unfortunately, the concert of Incubus will also be on the 28th! And prior to that, my group and I will be conducting a research at the library of Ateneo De Manila University for our thesis. On the 29th, Friday, we will be attending the NAASCU opening and will also be watching some games. Attendance is a must so we can't argue with that. Plus, we also have to pay Php50(approx. $ 1.17) for the tickets that will be held at the Makati Coliseum. Our proposal defense will be on Saturday and so as my Graphika Manila Conference. Anyway, Graphika Manila is an annual multimedia conference for art and multimedia related employees, students and enthusiasts. Since, our defense will be on Saturday, we have to work overnight again for our thesis on Friday night. Well, that's a lot, right? So let me do a detailed recap.

Tuesday, July 26
- Midterm exam

Wednesday, July 27
- Library research at Ateneo De Manila University (Maybe we'll be spending 5-7hours depending on library hours)

Thursday, July 28
- Midterm exam, 3-5pm
- Incubus Concert, 8pm

Friday, July 29
- NAASCU, 7am
- Overnight, 9pm

Saturday, July 30
- Graphika Manila Conference, 8am
- Thesis Proposal Defense , 1pm

So, what do you think about my schedule for this week? Hectic, isn't it? We all have priorities and we have to make sacrifices. Thus, I choose to prioritize my school activities. Since I haven't purchased my tickets for the concert of Incubus (which I have waited for years and was dying to watch for), I've decided not to watch it anymore and try to rest to gain enough energy for my upcoming commitments. But I have a big problem. I've already bought my tickets for the Graphika conference during their early bird rate period which costs Php1,200 (approx. $28) that originally costs Php1,500 (approx. $35). My problem is that I am having second thoughts now of not attending it but I'm so frustrated with the lost of money from the ticket. This is really annoying specially that our thesis professor said that the defense won't be moved! In despair, I have posted a status on my Facebook account about selling my ticket. I've also texted some of my friends who were with me last year. I just hope they haven't bought tickets yet so I could still sell it. Now let's take a look at my edited schedule.

At least I have some time to rest, right? These sacrifices are just minimal for me because these are only my luxuries. But the only thing that makes it hard for me to let these go is the fact that some people don't consider others' time and prioritize their own leisure. I'm not gonna bring up who I'm pertaining to. If only people know how to manage their time and consider others' time as well. It's just heart aching to know that you manage your schedule as much as possible in order to meet your commitments while others do not.

Feeling Down

Despite my continuous luck these past few days, I've finally met something bad. My group and I almost failed our title defense. We need to look for 3 new topics and do a re-defense on Saturday. That's just 1 week! :( Anyway, it is our last chance so we better work hard for it or else we'll fail! (Well, that's what our professor said.) That's why I'm feeling down and sad. I think I also feel depressed but I am struggling to fight these so I won't mess up and do things normally.

It is actually because of my title thesis last Saturday. I haven't got any sleep yet that day but we still proceeded to our school for our defense. My group and I stayed at our groupmate's house to work overnight. I still don't have the mood to tell the whole thing. :( In one of my posts, Mona from workingathome, commented and asked about it. I can't reply to her comment and even to the other comments because of what I'm feeling. I apologize to all of you for that. :(

The thing is that it's just a title defense but the panelists asked too much that it felt like it's already our proposal defense! Unlike the other groups. :( huhu... Oh, well... We'll just work hard for it and pray, pray, pray that we pass. I can't type about it anymore so I guess that's tah-tah for now. *Sigh*
